It's nice to know good culture jamming is alive

How true. I saw this on a tram stop on the way to work yesterday.

Because I am a pedant, I feel as if I should point out that it's a bus stop.

Not only because there's a bus in the picture, mind, but also because I think I've used the same seat from time to time when going to work. It's on Normanby Avenue, right? Where the buses go along? And right next to the 112 tram stop?

Yes yes. You may shoot me now.

Hey timt, I wondered if someone would query that. You are right about its location, and it serving bus passengers, but I believe it is both a bus and a tram stop – it is the 'shelter' for those waiting for the tram at the designated stop.

All the same, these things aren't actually being provided by either bus or tram companies, but have been sub-contracted by the giant street advertising company JCDeux, who make their money from the glossy, fluoro-lit advertisement posters in these stops. Hence the culture jamming.

So you could say it is an advertising stop.

Now who's being the pedant?

Hi Mark,

If you're interested in how visual communication and culture jamming can help achieve green social change, Greenpeace Australia Pacific is going to launch inaugural awards for a poster design. Check it out @ http://www.greenpeacedesignawards.org.au
